Training

NJRD training is held during NSW school terms. We train at Kahibah Public School hall (Frith St, Kahibah).

Attendance at training is important to developing skills, improving fitness and staying in touch with the club. Whilst we enjoy families coming to watch the juniors train it is essential that they remain off track during training to ensure the safety of all. Attendance is recorded via QR Code (scan and sign in on arrival to each session).

SATURDAY - 9:30am to 11:30am - LEVEL 1 + 2

Level 1 & 2 train on a Saturday morning and work through a structured session of set competencies as set out in the Skate Victoria Junior Roller Derby Basics Coaches Handbook. These skills need to be learned and practiced by all skaters.

SUNDAY - 6:00pm to 8:00pm - LEVEL 3 + 4

Level 3 & 4 train on a Sunday night and work through a structured session of set competencies as set out in the Skate Victoria Junior Roller Derby Basics Coaches Handbook. These skills need to be learned and practiced by all skaters.

WEDNESDAY - 6:30pm to 8:00pm - LEVEL 2, 3, 4

Level 2, 3, 4 train on a Wednesday night. This is a scrills/scrimmage session for bout ready skaters only. Please note this session may be utilised to conduct assessments or for specific coaching purposes as determined by the NJRD committee and coaches.

EQUIPMENT & TRAINING SINGLETS

We require our skaters to bring a water bottle and have the appropriate safety equipment when on track. This includes:

• Roller skates (flat derby style with indoor wheels are recommended but heeled skates to begin with are fine)
• Helmet
• Knee and Elbow pads
• Wrist guards
• Mouthguard (SISU mouthguards recommended - these are available to purchase from our website 'Shop')
